Revoderm lluminous™ Antioxidant Serum has numerous potent antioxidant / antiaging molecules, namely resveratrol, copper tripeptide, acetyl peptides, ascorbyl and retinyl palmitate.
Resveratrol: Resveratrol is found in many plants, most notably within wine grapes and is thought to partially explain the “French Paradox” of longevity. This very potent anti-oxidant protects against UVB-mediated damage and suppresses UVB-induced oxidative stress. It has also been shown to prevent UVA-mediated damage and abnormal cellular proliferation. Reseveratrol activates the sirtuins, a family of intracellular signaling molecules which regulate transcription of genes related to stress responses, cellular defense mechanisms and promotes cellular longevity. Also, resveratrol forms soluble, complex molecules with metal ions in a “scavenging” mechanism and thus preventing free radical formation. Resveratrol is also reported to stimulate healthy cell proliferation as well as collagen synthesis by protecting the dermal matrix from harmful enzymes and improving the function of fibroblasts that create healthy collagen.
Copper Tripeptide-1 – This is a complex of the amino acids glycine, histidine and lysine with copper. This is a natural complex which is a potent stimulator of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid synthesis.
Peptides – acetyl hexapeptide and octapeptides are small protein fragments that diffuse through the epidermis and upregulate the production of dermal collagen. The peptides help relax superficial facial muscles, particularly around the eyes thereby reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
Ascorbyl & Retinyl Palmitate – These are derivatives of vitamin A. They work by slowing down epidermal turnover and upregulating DNA-repair enzymes so that UV-induced DNA damage can be repaired
